Coal Network Marketing Focus

Coal Network markets to coal customers primarily located east of the Mississippi River. Specifically we serve those on the inland waterways and Great Lakes. We also serve rail and truck customers in the Southeastern United States and customers located overseas who receive coal from the Gulf. We service both utilities and industrials located in these markets with steam and specialty / stoker coals.

Strategically placed sales offices in the various coal producing basins allow for direct access to mines, terminals, and rail loading facilities.

Market Overview
Great Lakes
The Great Lakes serve as a major transportation corridor for the United States and is vital to commerce throughout the Upper Midwest region. Around 40 million tons of coal a year move across the lakes. The majority of the tonnage is sub-bituminous Powder River Basin coal that is railed to terminals along the western shores of Lake Michigan and Lake Superior for loading into lake vessels for transport to end users located on the eastern shores of the lakes. Also Central Appalachian coal is railed to the lakes for easy movement to utility and industrial customers requiring bituminous coal for their specific needs.
